The above items, the badge, seals and flag, are very dear to this old guy. After spending most of my working life in federal law enforcement, I have a healthy respect for all men and women in service to this great nation.
Even though totally committed, loyal and true to the fair and just principles upon which this nation was founded, the majority of our good men and women in law enforcement do take exception to those abusing the wonderful privileges we all hold so dear.
Just as the Islamic Terrorists took advantage of our good and trusting nation on September 11, 2001, there are many others hard at work, chipping away at the very foundation of our county every hour and every day of the year. Even though their evil deeds are not blatantly overwhelming or readily apparent, these malevolent individuals are undermining the very virtue, safety and well-being of not only this but future generations.
At the top of this malicious list are smugglers of drugs, aliens and contraband. From personal experience, after working the greater part of my career apprehending, interrogating, prosecuting and deporting these alien criminals and after seeing how their associated criminal activities also negatively impact our communities, I honestly and in all good conscience believe the insidiousness of their crimes inflict much greater harm to our society than does terrorism at its present level.
It is my most ardent hope our legislators will be made more mindful of this threat. And with that same eagerness, I pray our judicial system will also be more aggressive and unrelenting in the prosecution of this ever present danger to the health, safety and security of our great nation.
